There are some big changes happening at our Middlesbrough branch — and while it’s a time for celebration, there’s also a definite lump in the throat as we say goodbye to two team members who’ve been with us since the branch opened back in 2006: Nigel and Merrick.
Both were part of the original team that opened the branch that same year — which also happens to be when GO Interiors was named in the Sunday Times Top 100 Fastest Growing Companies. Now, 19 years later, they’re heading into retirement, and we couldn’t let that pass without a proper thank you.
Nigel retires this month
Throughout his time with us, Nigel has been a calm, steady presence and a key part of the branch team. He’s played an important role in helping grow some of our most valued customer relationships, and he’s always set the standard for dependable, honest service.
We’re proud of everything Nigel’s brought to the team over the years — from his insight and consistency to the way he built lasting customer relationships. It’s been a privilege to have him as part of the GO journey.
Thank you for everything, Nigel. Happy retirement!
Merrick follows in August
Merrick’s journey is the kind that doesn’t come around very often. He started on the forklift in the warehouse, moved into internal and external sales, and eventually became Branch Manager — a role he’s held with real passion and energy.
Known for his knowledge, good humour, and flair for music (and the occasional cocktail!), Merrick has left a big mark on the business and on everyone who’s worked with him.
We’ll be giving him the send-off he deserves later this summer.
Enjoy your last few weeks, Merrick. Happy retirement, and thank you for everything.
Sergio steps up
With change comes opportunity — and we’re really pleased to share that Sergio has been promoted to Branch Manager at GO Middlesbrough.
Sergio has been part of the team for over a decade, working across ceilings and partitions, and earning the trust of both customers and colleagues. He brings great technical knowledge, a calm approach, and a real passion for getting things right.
He’s got some big shoes to fill — but we’ve got every confidence he’ll make this next chapter a great one.
Congratulations, Sergio, and good luck. You've earned it!
Thank you Nigel. Enjoy the next few weeks, Merrick. And congratulations Sergio!
It’s rare to see this kind of loyalty and long service — and even rarer to have it from two people in the same branch. From all of us at GO: thank you both.
