When Molson Coors decided to relocate their UK head office from Carling House, they looked no further than their own historic Bass Brewery Museum building in Burton-on-Trent. This iconic site was transformed into a vibrant new workplace, blending heritage with modern design and performance standards.
Schofield Commercial Interiors Ltd, specialists in commercial office fit-outs, were entrusted with delivering the full internal package for the new HQ — a challenging task that included refurbishing the old L-shaped building, integrating an impressive atrium, and connecting it all to a brand-new annex constructed by Clegg Projects.
“It was a demanding brief. The original building was in a poor state and had to be brought up to the highest standards — thermally, acoustically, and in terms of fire compartmentation — and all on a very tight programme,”
says Matt Schofield, Owner and Director at Schofield Commercial Interiors Ltd.
To meet the demanding thermal and acoustic requirements, GO Interiors supplied a complete system of proven products including Hadley metal, Siniat boards, Rockfon ceilings and baffles, and Knauf insulation. SCI worked closely with the project architects to ensure the final result achieved both aesthetic and functional excellence.
“We worked with GO Interiors because they not only had the right products for the job, but could supply them competitively and reliably. Their team supported us all the way — this project is even being submitted for architectural awards,”
adds Matt.
The fit-out included a range of Rockfon ceiling systems, from CleanSpace Pro tiles to Blanca panels and acoustic baffles — all helping to deliver the acoustic performance critical to the new HQ’s open-plan and collaborative workspaces.
“Ease of installation and the quality of finish were key. The Rockfon baffles and ceiling panels were standouts on site, and the Siniat board solutions performed across fire, acoustic, and partitioning needs,”
said the site team.
GO Interiors’ Sheffield depot played a central role in the smooth delivery of the project.
“We were able to respond quickly to changing site demands — whether that meant pulling out all the stops for last-minute deliveries or ensuring every scheduled drop arrived on time and in full,”
says Claire Corbett, Depot Manager at GO Interiors Sheffield.
The completed headquarters was met with glowing feedback from Molson Coors. A senior executive from the USA flew in for the official opening — and was reportedly delighted with how the vision had been brought to life.
Matt concluded: “The client couldn’t be happier. The concept was delivered exactly as intended. It’s a bold new chapter for a historic building,”
With a strong collaborative relationship established, Schofield Commercial Interiors is already planning to work with GO Interiors on future projects, continuing to rely on their product expertise, customer service, and supply capabilities.
